Biography
Dr. Alberto Ramos is a neurologist and sleep medicine physician specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea and other conditions that affect sleep quality and long-term brain health. He is a Professor of Clinical Neurology and the Research Director of the Sleep Medicine Program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Dr. Ramos earned his medical degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine and completed his internship and neurology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He later completed fellowship training in sleep medicine at the University of Miami Sleep Disorders Center.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Ramos leads research examining the relationship between sleep, cardiovascular health, and cognitive aging. His work focuses on understanding how sleep disorders — including obstructive sleep apnea — affect stroke risk, neurocognitive decline, and dementia in large population studies.
